Taste the World in Fenton Village to Guide Community on a ‘Tour’ of International Restaurants, Music and Local Wine on June 2

A shot from Taste the World 2012, this year will be even more colorful.

Music, international cuisine, locally produced wines and family fun await participants in the third annual Taste the World in Fenton Village on Sunday, June 2 from 1 to 5 p.m. Fenton Village is located just south of downtown Silver Spring between Wayne, Georgia and Burlington avenues and Fenton Street.

Taste the World welcomes event-goers to visit 26 Fenton Village restaurants and sample not just their food but their special atmosphere. Restaurants will offer appetizers or small tasting plates at a cost of $2 to $5 apiece. This year's event introduces an exciting new wine tasting option at select restaurants from two Maryland wineries, Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard and Black Ankle Vineyards.

Event attendees may pick up their Taste the World "passports" at Parking Lot 3 on Fenton Street between Thayer and Silver Spring avenues beginning at 1 p.m. "Balloons will mark what restaurants and businesses are open," says Jessica Fusillo, co-chair of the Commercial Economic Development Committee for the Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board. "We will have ambassadors and volunteers guiding people through Fenton Village, so it will be a lively and fun time."

A raffle will be held around 5:30 p.m. in Parking Lot 3. Anyone who has tasting stamps from at least three different restaurants could win prizes. The top prize will be a "Weekend for 2 in Silver Spring" with hotel accommodations, dining and entertainment provided.

Participating restaurants include: Abyssinia Restaurant, Addis Ababa Restaurant, Bombay Gaylord, Fenton Café, Fire Station Restaurant, Gebeta Ethiopian Restaurant, Ghar-E-Kabob, Golden House, The Greek Place, Jackie's Restaurant, Kefa Café, La Madeleine Country French Café, Langano Ethiopian Restaurant, Lesaac Ethiopian Café, Lizbeth's Café, Lotus Café, Lucy's Ethiopian Restaurant, Manny & Olga's Pizza, Pacci's Neopolitan Pizzeria, Piratz Tavern, Roger Miller Restaurant, Taqueria Distrito Federal, Thai Derm, Thai Market, Vicino Ristorante Italiano and ZED's Café.
